In recent years, a lot of brands have produced smartwatch. In this article we will focus on the Huawei Brand. Let see the Huawei Watch 2 and the Watch GT.

Huawei Watch 2
It’s a smartwatch that has good looks and lots of features. There’s GPS, a HRM and optional 4G. Since it’s been out a while it can be bought much lower prices. Instead of the premium appeal that it has on the original Huawei watch, Huawei Watch 2 takes on a rugged, sporty finish with a chunky plastic body and sizable bezel surrounding the watch face.

The Huawei Watch 2 has a strong health and fitness angle, and its design has an aim to survive the rigors of a workout, training session or race. The silicon strap is sweat-proof and can be easily removed, with handy pegs on the underside of the strap. It uses a standard 20 mm strap size, but it will be limited to Huawei Watch 2-specific straps.

The Watch 2 is a sizable presence on the wrist at 48.9 X 45 X 12.6 mm, it is bigger than its predecessor and the Watch 2 has a smaller display. Even though it is big but is surprisingly light considering with all of the features crammed inside. The flat rear to the watch case with the built-in heart rate monitor sits comfortably on the arm.

There are two buttons available on the right side of the watch. One button is for main navigation key for bringing up the app list and returning to the clock face. The other is a programmable key which you can assign to the app you want it to launch.

The Huawei Watch 2 packs a Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset along with 768MB of RAM. Wear OS is the software that is used for this watch, this in an attempt from Google to make it run with both iPhone and Google devices. Another feature from this software is the dedicated app store, so apps can be downloaded directly from the watch itself. There is a 4GB storage which allows the user to download a number of applications.

This Watch 2 can function perfectly without a SIM card; just use the smartphone’s internet connection or a local WiFi network. Moreover, this watch does have a nano SIM slot hiding behind one of the straps. This Huawei watch works with all Android smartphone with Android 4.3 and above, it also works on iPhone for iPhone 5 or newer at least iOS 9.

Without a SIM card, this watch can last two days on a single charge. It can give up to 18 days from a single charge if it is on ‘watch mode’ which only functions as a watch.

The Huawei Watch 2 is aimed at the fitness crowd, and specifically those who want to stay connected when they’re away from their handset. It is also appealing for those who are looking for a feature-packed smartwatch.

Huawei Watch GT
There are two variants available for Huawei Watch GT, the Sport and the Classic. Black body edition is the Sport and the silver body is the Classic. The Huawei Watch GT is a thin and light smartwatch with a full-color display; the design is similar to the Huawei Watch 2 although it is slimmer. All of the stats will appear clearly on the 1.39 inch AMOLED display and it’s easy to interact with the touchscreen.

There are two buttons on the right-hand side of the watch, the top button works to wake the watch and take you back to the main menu. The lower button is designed to have customable shortcut. These two buttons have the same function like the ones on Watch 2.

The GT is made of a combination of ceramic and metal. The bezel has numbers around is to make it look like a traditional watch, and the ceramic gives it a classier feel than other smartwatches. There is a choice of silver body with a brown leather strap or a black body with a black silicone strap.

On this Watch GT the company included its own LightOS software, which makes it limited when compared to more comprehensive smartwatch operating system you can get right now. The central app is called Workouts and this offers most of the tracking capabilities outside the normal step tracking and heart rate monitoring that works in the background at all time.

There are easy modes to set up including: Outdoor Run, Indoor Run, Outdoor Walk, Climb, Trail Run, Outdoor Cycle, Indoor Cycle, Pool Swim, Open Water and other. You can confidently wear it to track a swim since it is 5ATM waterproof.

Contrast from the Watch 2, the GT watch is believed by Huawei to last almost a whole month on a single charge. It has been tested that the GT dropped to 50% after around two weeks of use, then it was being recharged, and after 10 days it still has 72% battery left.

The Watch GT is designed for those looking for a fitness-focused device that also looks good, as it offers an accurate heart rate tracker, fast GPS and a lot of tracking modes in a premium-looking package. However, this is not the best watch for anyone who wants to access a lot of useful apps and notification directly from their wrists.

Despite its small screen and shorter battery life than the GT, all the other features including the software that is more accessible are a big win for the Watch 2. Since the features of both watches come close but the software on the GT is a letdown.
