Android Wear has become more and more popular among the many smartwatches available in the market. It is now no longer just a high-functionality choice. Fashion-oriented manufacturers have started to adopt the platform as well in order to follow the trend. Two big names in the fashion industry, Michael Kors and Fossil have also started their Android Wear debuts with Michael Kors Access and Fossil Q Wander. As for now, Michael Kors Access is available at a slightly higher price point than Fossil Q Wander. So, how do Michael Kors Access vs Fossil Q Wander compare against each other? Which one is better for the money? Find out below!
Actually, Michael Kors Access is available in two versions, Bradshaw and Dylan. Michael Kors Access Bradshaw is aimed at women, even though most models are also suitable for men. It is based on the popular gold-colored Bradshaw watch, featuring a classy bezel and shiny gold-colored stainless steel construction. Nevertheless, with a thickness of about 14 mm and a weight of over 110 grams, it is indeed pretty large and heavy for women.
Michael Kors Access Dylan looks sportier and perhaps more suitable for men. It is available in three color schemes, which are black, gold/black, and blue/silver. The bezel and lugs are more defined; they scream “we are high-end!” to anyone looking at them. The silicone strap is solid and comfortable, featuring a criss-cross textured finish to enhance the breathability.
On the other hand, Fossil Q Wander measures 45 mm wide and 13.5 mm thick. It is a large and weighty piece indeed. It does not come with rugged ridges; instead, it features smooth rounded edges and distinctive lugs that extend downward. It has a chic feel on it, and it will work well in casual as well as office settings.

Michael Kors and Fossil are fashion brands. So, unsurprisingly, neither of them is focused on hardware specifics. Their displays aren’t really impressive. Still, Fossil Q Wander is a little bit better in this aspect.
Michael Kors Access comes with a TFT transflective LCD screen which measures 1.4-inch wide with a resolution of 320 x 290 pixels. The colors seem to be washed off, and the sharpness is not very good. For its price, the display is quite a letdown.
On the other hand, Fossil Q Wander manages to make a better score, thanks to the wider display and higher resolution. The display measures 1.5-inch wide, and the resolution is 360 x 360 pixels. The sharpness is a little better here. Unfortunately, the colors are also a little dull.
Features and Performance
Michael Kors Access is quite customizable. You get a selection of 10 Michael Kors’s faux-analogue and faux-digital watch faces, and you can also set up day and night modes. If you turn on the “My Modes” feature, you can make the smartwatch change the watch face automatically when transitioning from day to night.
Michael Kors Access has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It does not have a speaker, so you need to pair it to a pair of Bluetooth headphones in order to listen to music or answer calls. It does have a built-in mic. It has Google Voice and Google Fit.
On the other hand, Fossil Q Wander does not have many things to boast about. But there is one nice advantage: Fossil Q Wander has a built-in mic and speaker. So, you can answer calls directly through the smartwatch without having to use a set of headphones. In addition, it supports Google Now and Google Fit.

In terms of value and quality, Fossil Q Wander is the winner. It comes with a better display and better features. It already has a built-in mic and speaker so that you can answer calls right away. However, if you prefer a smartwatch for fashion statement, Michael Kors Access is arguably a better choice due to the more luxurious design and customization.
